I am on Comcast in Bucks County north of Philadelphia. I've had a DVR
for about a month (actually the second as the first failed within a
week). The DVR is a Motorola 6412 with a dual tuner. Before that had
three HD boxes in the last year. Yes failures and a poor install.

In playback the DVR sometimes just feezes up. Pressing various buttons
on the remote does nothing. Then the unit awakens from its slumber and
executes all the buttons pressed. The whole problem may last about 45
seconds and happens about once a day randomly.

On occassion the box will start up in a mute mode. Not the TV but the
box. It even says MUTE in the top center of the screen. Nothing
clears this problem except power off/on.

When recording two shows (dual tuner) it is sometimes impossible to
switch (swap) to the other tuner to watch. Again sometimes the unit
works fine other times its power off/on and reset all the recordings.

Comcast tech support is clueless and field service is also.

Anyone else having any of these problems?

Here's how to unmute your box.

1. Press the 'Cable' button at the top of the remote.
2. Press and hold the 'Setup' button until the 'Cable' button blinks twice.
3. Type in the code 994. The 'Cable' button again blinks twice.
4. Hit (Do Not Hold) the 'Setup' button
5. Enter in 00141 (for Box Mute)
6. Press whatever button you want "Box Mute" to be (for myself, I used
the 'on-off' button at the very bottom of the remote).
