I paid for the episode. It has no timely content. Why can't I watch
it whenever I want? Because they want to sell me the DVD, too? Fat
chance of that happening.
And please, whoever it was, spare me the nonsense about writing my
congressman. He's an idiot. |

I might pay $0.99 if it was for the *whole* show...in other words, all

that for free.

I know that some folks here love the idea of paying to watch a show
*sans* commercial interruption:

Yep, there are definitely some holes in this. Now we see why their
pushing the new NDS boxes, *more* DRM. People are freaked out about the
DRM on Tivo? Wait till you see the control on *these* boxes!
"We'll delete your shows anytime we want. So now, not only will the
crappy DVR software lose your shows accidentally, we can make it delete
them on purpose!"

That is something a VCR has that DVR's do not.....Digital Copyright
Management. It may not be the best quality, but no "broadcast flag" can
erase or put my old VCR tapes in jeopardy. |

Well, not right now. There's nothing saying that the media companies
could lobby to ram through legislation that would require even future
*vcr's* to include software to detect broadcast flags. And I think you
worded that wrong (VCR's have DCM? I think it's more correct to say they
are lacking it), but the gist is clear.

But they dont lack it, they have the macrovision DRM. My Father kept a very
old VCR around just to avoid it.
