As it seems it is a bit costly. Is there anything in the price range of
$150?

The item I had suggested in a previous post (perhaps you missed it),
the ADS Technologies PYRO A/V Link with Adobe Premiere Elements
(API-555), sells for about $150 or less, I believe.
PYRO A/V Link with Premiere Elements

Please note that I have no experience with this product; I suggested
it purely because it seemed to fit your technical requirements.

Yeah, check Ebay for a Sony Digital 8 camcorder. |

The TRV240 that I mentioned, as well as others have ports for USB, Composite
(requires a 3 RCA into1 mini plug cable, available anywhere) S-Video,
Firewire (they call it I-link) You can go in or out through any of them.
There are a number of other features as well. Quite a powerful little unit
for the price.
However, I'd avoid the models that have the controls on the LCD display
instead of the body of the cam. I found one like that in a pawn shop - I
believe it was a TRV-430 or something, and it's a cumbersome pain to have to
push on the LCD constantly and I can't help but think it takes a toll on the
lifespan of the display. Really dumb design change IMO, the controls mounted
on body of the cam are far easier to use. |

Thanks to all of you for these information. I have another query, how
is USB 2.0 capture devices work, in terma of quality? As I was looking
into the web, I can found lot more USB 2.0 solution than Firewire or
PCI. Can you please suggest. |

Every time somebody suggests something that fits your latest
version of requrements, you appear to change your story.
Exactly what are you really looking for? |

Richard, the reason is very simple, I just want a wider range openion.
I have not received any comments about USB 2.0 solution, just wondering
about, is that not really a acceptable solution? |

It works fine for hard drives for me, but some software does not support
video capture through USB2. Most cameras (all) have a Firewire port. Do
any have a USB2 port? Including yours?

USB2.0 will offer you no major benefit if your source is purely analogue -
it will only complicate things. The PCI capture card solution is the best
and cheapest option for you...in my opinion.

Many of us here are wary of USB2 because it is still rather new
and unproven. I haven't seen any evidence that *any* DV
camcorders use USB for full-size, full-speed video transfer.
99.999% of them use Firewire. USB is used for still picture
downloading, and low-res video (i.e. "web-cam"). OTOH,
the mini-DVD camcorders use USB for transfering the MPEG-
compressed video, but Firewire appears to be the standard
for the higher-quality DV encoded video. |
