Two Mono into One Stereo |
|
|
I have an extremely simple question.
I have two mic inputs that I want to combine into a stereo signal and
feed into my sound card's line-in (I will then seperate the two signals
in software). Can anyone recommend a cheap mixer/preamp that can power
the mics and do the mixing?
Thanks a lot.

Hi Polar,
Cheapest, decent little mixer for this job would be the Behringer 602a.
It has two mic inputs that are fairly clean and quiet, two stereo line
inputs, a tape in and out, and one aux send as well (with phantom power
available for the mic inputs if you wish to use condensers). Average
price used is around $30.00 to $50.00. Price brand new is around
$65.00.
Not for real critical work. I have used these little guys and the next
model up (UB 802a) for submixes when I needed extra mic inputs in a
pinch. For a budget minded, small scale project they would be hard to
beat.
All the best to you in your quest,

Soundcraft Compact 4. More expensive (around $100) than Behringer UB502, but
better suited for recording into a computer, with a lot of useful features.

Hi Predrag.
The Soundcraft is a better mixer, no doubt. If Polar can budget for
the $100.00 or so for the Soundcraft Compact 4 versus the $50.00 or so
for a Behringer MX602a, he would be better served with the Soundcraft.
I would not recommend a Behringer UB502 though, only one mic input and
cheapest of cheap. UB502's can be found for $25.00 used, and about
$35.00 new.
Best regards,
Skeeter. |

You're right. I confused one model of Behringer mixers with the other.
Sorry.
