Someone recently posted to this Group that said that HDTV (or thin
screen TV's) had dropped substantially and would drop fairly quickly
in the future. However, I lost that post. Would you please repost
it? I am curious as to how much you think prices might drop over the
next few months.
Thanks
Ron
It's quite simple. I just bought a 42" Panasonic Plasma, therefore
prices will drop substantially.
I'll report back when I buy a new computer and car so everyone can save
money. =\
I'm looking at the same unit, but the EDTV version. Prices will drop even
more when I buy. ;)
Hi, |
I have same unit set up out at my cabin. At some point you have to move.
Going to wait until hell freezes?, LOL.

With rapidly-evolving and improving technologies (HDTV, computers),
the mantra is: "You always win by waiting; but as long as you wait,
you can never win." Eventually, if you want the toys, you have
to spend the money.
With cars, it's different. Cars in general aren't getting cheaper
(though hybrids might, as production improvements occur). The
value of the car you buy plummets the instant you drive it off the
lot. |

My nephew in mid Wisc just bought the E50A10 Sony rear
projection LCD model..... Bulbs cost $177...

Where have you found the bulb for $177? I only found it at 2 places on
the net (one was at Sony) for about $200 + tax + shipping.

For a Too low or too high view angle, set can be dim.. Do not use
the vivid 'Torch' mode for brightness.

Is Vivid mode harmful to the TV or the bulb or are you simply saying
that it's not the best picture quality on this TV in your opinion?
I'm still using Vivid mode on mine, and I think it looks great. I
guess my eyes don't know any better, and I haven't had time to
research and try the custom settings.
To me the big issue with the Sony KDFE50A10 (and probably all Sony
projection LCDs) is new stuck pixels that show up periodically and the
fact the picture is not perfectly rectangular and symmetric (it tilts
1/8" to 3/16" inch downward to the right on every set I've measured).
Other than that, it seemed like a good set for the price in my
opinion, and they can be had for under $2000 (probably even less
around Christmas) when on sale.

Also has analog tuner too.. Set has no pic in Pic...
This is the best selling HDTV set some Sears stores..
Either the 42" or 50"..... Is good bang for the buck.
Set is 720p HD resolution... It Has all the In/Out
ports you will need.... |

I don't know about your set but my Sony CRT HDTV KV-36XBR450 has a tilt
adjustment in the menu under settings.

I thought this was obvious, but I will explain it. It is not the fact
that prices are dropping that is important. That is true of nearly
every piece of electronics that you could name. It is the RATE at
which prices are dropping that is significant. In other words, I
don't want to by an HDTV that then drops in price 25% over the next
three months.

Then you should not buy ANY electronics........ever!
That possibility is always there.
I paid $7000.00 for My Pioneer Elite 64" HD RPTV several years ago and
have not regretted it in any way.

The Sears lead TV Salesman says price is $177 in Sears Service Dept.

I'm guessing the Vivid 'brightness' mode is hard on the bulb...
Generates Lesser bulb life?

IF the LCD appears dim under certain lighting conditions.... Users
may
move to the vivid mode and never revert back to Standard....

My understanding is the bulb is always on at the same intensity. The
only difference is the iris and other settings which change the amount
of light the bulb projects through to the screen. Therefore, no matter
what mode, brightness, or iris setting is used, the bulb is supposed
to be on at the same intensity and will wear out at the same rate.
If anyone has knowledge about this set to the contrary, please post. |
