Depends on if it is the DirectShow version or the Video for Windows version.
Can you be more specific?

That's a good question. I didn't know there was more than one version. How
do I determine this? (wondering if I just pissed away $50 on the wrong
version) |

From mainconcept.com products page:
"Many people believe that the DV editing process does not result in any
video quality loss. Actually, there is the potential for loss during editing
(for example, when titles or transitions are added). The MainConcept DV
Codec is widely recognized as offering the best quality and rendering speed.
It is compatible with any program which supports standard Video for Windows
codecs. Version 2.4.16 now includes special High-quality
4:1:1-color-resampling, the PAL/NTSC detection has been changed, so that
artifacts are removed in some videos, and various other bugfixes.
Operating systems: Windows 98, 98SE, 2000, Me, XP"
So, I'm assuming it's VFW. |

Unless MainConcept provided a specific uninstall link, you have to go
through a number of steps to remove a VfW codec.
I have the trial version installed and there is a link on the Start menu at
All Programs/MainConcept/DV Code/Uninstall.
If you don't have this, then follow this multistep process:
Start/Control Panel/Sounds and Audio Devices
Select the Hardware tab
In the list, scroll down to and highlight Video Codecs then click Properties
Select the Properties tab
See if the MainConcept codec is listed and, if so, Remove.
Note, it may only appear by its filename. In which case, go to each codec
listed, select Properties and, if enable, choose Settings... You'll see a
dialog box for the codec's settings and the manufacturer etc.
Please post back if this doesn't work, in which case you may need to remove
the DirectShow version (a separate file with a different install/uninstall
process).
John.
