I am considering buying one of the 3 above listed solutions and would
like comments from those who have used them. My focus is on quality
of a/v and ability to record 4-5 hours without problems

I have 2 of the 250s running in a opensource PVR (MythTV) I built. They
do native MPEG2 compression so they don't place a big demand on the CPU.
They work fine and quality is based on what bitrate you tell them to
use. Recording duration is purely based on how much HD space is available.
