divxtodvd chapter question |
|
|
Hi there, been using divxtodvd for a while now and finding it can do more
and more.
Been playing with the chapter feature, to add chapters to a film, but it
only seems to let me add chapters at fixed intervals.
Say I want to add a chapter at 43:17 (mm:ss), the nearest I can do is 43:15
as far as I can see.
Anyone any experience of this?
tia,
Andy

running into the key frame problem. Usually you can't insert a chapter
unless it is at a key frame. I run into this problem all the time with
my DVD authoring program. I normally don't worry too much about it
because I'm just putting in a chapter point every 5 minutes or so, so
I don't care. In a normal MPG-2 file which is what DVD requires the
key frame is every 10 frames or so. In a divx file you normally have a
key frame every 20 to 100 frames. (That's one of the ways it can
compress the video so much.) If you want to insert a chapter at a
specific time then you'll have to find a program that will insert a
key frame into the video stream. Sorry I don't have any ideas on what
program will do it but you should be able to find something by using
Google. |

Cheers VS, I heard back from the people who support divxtodvd, they said at
the moment their software is restricted to inserting chapters to the nearest
15 seconds! E-mailed them back and suggested that perhaps that's a bit too
restrictive and maybe they should let you insert a chapter anywhere in the
next version, said they'd pass my comments on to the development team!
In the mean time, going to try a demo of ulead's dvd movie factory that
looks more flexible.

If you use IFOEdit to edit the .ifo file you will see where the chapters are
set , generally 20 with the free version of the program, anyway using
IFOEdit you can move the times around, add or delete chapters.. |
