LG DV3530 CD/DVD RECEIVER DOESN'T PLAY DVDs |
|
|
I rescued an LG DV3530 from an early grave and all is working ok except
that DVDs will not play.
The display shows STOP as soon as it reads a DVD.
CDs are ok as is the tuner.
The DVD had probably been used for playing dubious media and may be
software locked.
Anyone know how to unlock if that is in deed the problem?

That was probably the reason it was in its grave. Most dvd players use a
seperate laser wavelength for reading DVDs vs reading CD media, this units
DVD laser has died, its quite common, and usually not cost effective to
fix...hence the reason it was junked...

Thanks for the response.
Without the DVD player it's not much use to me so I'll put it back
where I found it and look to buying something new. |

Hey! Guess what?
My youngest son came to visit me this evening and took a look at the
player and now everything works a treat.
There's a PAL/NTSC switch at the back of the unit and this was set
incorrectly.
Imagine that - 3 settings, PAL, NTSC and Automatic and someone had
picked a 1 in 3 and lucked out! And a couple of Microsofties had
decided it was history and junked it.
It now plays DVDs, VCDs, CDs and my IPOD sounds great.
Boy even suggested I get a dock for the ipod and leave it permanently
connected and I'll be doing just that.
Bonus! |
