guessing I create another text path on the same solid but this also seems to
obscure the first text path.

Set the Screen mode of the new solid to "Screen", and put it above the
prior one. The text should then be the only part opaque. If that text is
obscuring a layer beneath that you wish to see and work on, you can
click the little 'eye' icon and make it dissapear for a while. You can
keyframe the opacity of layers over time so that they start out clear
and pop into visual range at any point you wish. Check out the help
files for Key Frame Properties to learn about Liner, Hold ect types of
keyframe properties and what they do, and also the ease in and ease out
properties.
However....
A very easy way to do what you want is to get your one layer with path
text on it to perform exactly as you want. Then duplicate the layer and
change the text. Slide it down the timeline a little bit and tickle the
opacity properties a little until you get the proper effect where the
second layer fades up and then begins to move out at the moment you want
it to begin moving. |
