I'm making a photo book and am scanning in my old film 3x5 and 4x6
photo collection. I just realized the scanner was set to 300 dpi. They
look fine in Photoshop Elements. Will they print fine as 3x5 and 4x6
pictures in a photo book?

There's no point in scanning ordinary machine snapshot prints at
anything beyond 300dpi; there's no information beyond that point
there.

Try scanning at 600 dpi and see if you can see more detail. Most print
have very little if any detail past 300 dsp but I do have some that
have a bit more.

If you are going to print them out at the same size then 300 dpi should
work find regradless.

Charlie: 300 dpi is actually more than you need for 3R and 4R photos.
200 dpi is adequate. For 5x7 and higher, 300 dpi is fine.
