i've been on. In certain areas of the world, security is routinely rasied

An interesting comment.
One thing ( amongst others ) that turned me off Christianity was my
perception that so-called 'Christians' rarely show Christian behaviour in
practice.
In comparison, most Moslems I've met are delightfully ( almost naively )
true to the teachings of their faith.

As far as I can tell, and I've been to Paris recently, these are the
usual gangs of the "cités", the ghettos of the poor. And while many of
them are of are of north-african origins (maghreb) the gangs usually
multi-ethnic multi-religious. Religion is not the issue here, it's the
fact that they are being called "rabble" by their government which
implements a strategy of "represssion" and teenagers are regularly
killed in police pursuits.

The ship that was attacked is the sister ship of the first ship I was on. I
was on the Seabourn Pride, the Seabourne Legend was the one used in speed2
(although there are so many holes in that film it's untrue) but I do know a
lot of people on the Spirit. The guy who took the pictures of the pirates I
know very well as he came on the ships a lot and does nothing but take
photos.
