Hi guys,
What comms systems are you using between FOH and monitordesk/SM etc??
Also is anyone using small strobes etc to attract the engineers attention,
eg placed onto desk?

We use a Canford Techpro system with a master station and up two four |
remotes/beltpacks. The feed to FOH goes down the multicore.
I thought the canfords strobe was both too bright for foh use (where
the audience would be distracted by it`s flash) and pretty expensive, so
I knocked up a single ultra bright led in a box, using a simple one
transistor circuit some kind soul from the group sent me.

Any suggestions on cheap clones available in the UK? Im always amazed at the
prices for what your actually getting.
Ive used the Techpro kit which is just what im after im just trying to see
if i can do it on the cheap.

Techpro IS expensive, but reliable coms are necessary in a theatre
environment,
the headsets don't easily break and the beltpacks are pretty bombproof.
They sound right too, very articulate, which is important in a theatre
situation.
We,ve been using some cheap PMR radios (BT Freeway) for staff to staff
coms for a while now, and they work reasonably well given a decent
earpiece. They,ve been reliable so far, one got dropped down the toilet
the other night, and still works!

I use the Techpro system which seems to be the most common in the UK and is
compatible with the Metro & Clearcom system and uses standard mic cable so
can use spare muticore lines.
If you search around the web you can find various clone circuits as well if
you take the indicator part of the circuit it should be possible to use
whatever lamp you like
I also am looking into interfacing the comms with the PFL of my GL2200 via
the syslink connection with an option of the call operating the PFL to
monitor

We use clearcom and a modified Knightrider scanning led toy velcroed on
the meter bridge. |

Thanks. Even though I'm not the OP - I have a need in this
area as well.
PMR in the UK seems to map to FMR/GMRS in the US.
There seem to be a rich selection of mics/earpieces
available.
The price is *right*. ;-) |
