Not the good ones. With which ones have you had this happen?

Dunno about him, but once in a while I've had Neumann KM-84s do it. One of
them dropped dead during the setup for an opera taping, 85 degrees, 99%
humidity. Luckily, it was during the setup, not the performance.

Peace,
Paul

Yes, I am that pedantic. Sue me.

A worthless effort, no? :)

I suppose, but I find it passes the time and is mildly amusing. ;-)

Suing yourself?

The Schoeps will do it. The Sennheiser MKH series mikes are the only
ones I have used that can handle rainforest conditions.

Keep the Schoeps capsule to body contacts clean and you should be fine.

the question raised is, "how much schmutz had accumulated on the diaphragm
over a period of time and how conductive did that schmutz become as a result
of how much humidity?"

In that case, any condenser mic might do the same, with the exception of a
sennheiser MKH

That helps a lot, but once moisture starts condensing inside and
forming leakage paths, you get problems. They all do it... B&K,
Schoeps... although some of the B&K instrumentation mikes have internal
heaters to boil the water out.

Come and work the Washington Folk Festival, Ty, and see just how bad
things get even under subtropical conditions. You got your condensing
humidity, you got open rain, you got 120'F in the Adventure Theatre...

Put strings on it?

(don't play guit and have no bias for or against any guitar besides
maybe steinbergers but it's such an obvious joke)

Take care,
