I have a Sharp LC45gx6u Aquos set with the external tuner box. I haven't
been able to get a computer running XPP to use the HDMI, I'm getting only a
blank screen. I tried hooking the computer directly to the back of the
monitor (bypassing the tuner box), and I received a bunch of vertical white
lines against a black screen. I've tried changing the settings on the
computer to just about every conceivable setting, to no avail. I've tested
the cable by hooking the comptuer to another HDMI monitor, so I know that
the computer and cable are working.

Anyone ehave any ideas?

How about making sure a set works with a PC before you blow a couple
thousand bucks on it?

If you see a VGA input, you can know for sure. But if you see a DVI or
HDMI input, it's not a sure thing, as it might not support PC scan
rates, and might also not support turning off overscan. And composite
inputs will almost certainly have overscan.

Yes, I know that Aquos is one of the best, if not the best LCD set you
can get, but they've been annoyingly avoiding computer inputs.
Hopefully in the next few years, we'll see TV manufacturers stop
avoiding PC inputs in a vain attempt to prop up their commercial video
monitor market, if only because of the other manufacturers taking their
business.

Here's an idea:

Depending on your card, you might want to check the control panel for
your video card. They are often funky and require lots of playing
around.

Example: I have an ATI 9700 card with the ATI drivers. I couldn't get
the computer's output to the TV via Svideo...tried all kinds of stuff in
the Display panel. Then I went to the ATI control panel and found a
setting in there...viola'--outputs fine to the TV.

Anyway, play around with that FWIW...
