Replace an SAT-T60 with -- What? |
|
|
One of my Series 1 DirecTiVos, a four-year-old SAT-T60, seems to be on
its last legs. I'd like to know what you would replace it with, if you
had to.
Many thanks.

Either another series 1 DTiVO or a series 2 DTiVo, whichever I could come
across the cheapest. Of course, when you say last legs, I don't fully
believe that it's not something a new drive or a new fan or a new power
supply couldn't fix.

Probably ... but I was thinking a more recent machine would suit me.
However, I may replace the fan and swap out the drives again.
Thanks very much for answering. |

We have an old sat t60 and a newer Rca r40. The only real diff between
the two is that the R40 has the software that sorts the shows into folders.
If you want to hack, the newer directivos have the USB ports so it's
easy to add wireless. You would need to add an interface card to the
t60. Other than that no big diff.

Thanks for the comparison.
Do you find the R40 to be significantly faster in displaying menus,
setting up Season Passes, etc.? |

Replace with another SAT T-60 that you bought for $30 from me. :)
Pay shipping and you can have mine with 69 hrs recording time. I no longer
use this unit and its currently collecting dust in my basement.

I'll pass, but thanks anyway. |

Yes as the R40 got a software update that is not available
to the t-60.
