Should I buy a JVC HD Camcorder or wait? |
|
|
As I understand it this is fairly new. That is having a 30GB hard
drive on the camcorder. I also heard that JVCs that have this are not
that good. Should I wait for other models to come out with a HD by
other manufacturers? Or just go miniDV? Thanks and corrections on the
JVC and anything else here are welcome. Thank you.

I would wait till we have a set standard of HD/Blue Ray DVD to burn them to. |

I personally like the look of the new JVC model, but have seen no
reviews. Just the idea of capturing to 720x480 mpeg at a 8000 bitrate
is compelling for snapshot like videos to be distributed to family and
friends. I am considering buying one myself.
There are other considerations here, like low light and the overall
quality of the lens. But the convenience of the thing is quite
attractive.
At $700-900 it is not cheap. It is too early to tell if direct mpeg-2
capture for D1 will take off, or will be a niche replaced by HD which
is the coming trend. HD will replace both miniDV and D1 eventually
though, imho.
Cheers... |
