(Despite my other post whining about wide screen) I am beginning
shopping for a wide screen hdtv, probably lcd, probably 32", but
somewhere between 26" and 37".

I went to BB. The 27" and 32" Sonys looked very crisp. Some nearby
tvs looked pretty bad by comparison. I asked the salesman how much was
due to poor adjustment of the tv; his answer was "Some but not all,"
and he said they just put them out and don't adjust them. (All tvs had
the same signal.)

I was particularly surprised to see the Westinghouse 32" was about as
sharp as the Sony 32" A10 next to it, despite costing only half as much.

What can I conclude? Can most or all such tvs achieve a crisp sharpness
with proper adjustment? If so, then how do you decide on a tv? Help!

I'm a Sony HDTV fan.......

You pay for what you get.....

Sony HDTV internal guts are close to top notch....

The Sonys may require adjustment in time to make the

picture better.... and Sony has the service help IF you'd

ever need it... By the way the Sony 16:9 widescreen digital

HD models come in 30 & 34" diagonal.... The 4:3 less

costly digital HD models come in 32 & 36" Diag...

so grab the remote and adjust away. I am sure that the salesman will not
mind if he thinks he will get a sale.

Not knowing who the manufacture is for the off brand device I'd probably
stay with the company that has been manufacturing teles for the long haul,
SONY. That way you have their corporate history and reputation to fall back
on. I know the Focus and Jaguar both will get you down the road, however??

Be careful. Some of them Jaguars are Lincolns. They come off the same
assembly line with different "trim" components. Other than that, they
are identical.
