Since the specified requirement is for UHF plus only the high band of VHF,
it sure seems obvious that the intention was to have a combination antenna
that does not have any (useless in most markets after DTV transition) of
the long elements for low band VHF (channels 2-5) (or FM).
But apparently some UHF antennas do a reasonably good job at VHF-high.
I've not actually tested this ... just repeating with others say.

| Have you even bothered to try to find out for yourself? There are less
| than 5 reputable outdoor antenna manufacturers, so hitting their websites
| would take just a few minutes, and you would be able to answer your own

Not everyone would necessarily know of all of these. There are some other
antenna makers that may or may not be reputable. And of course the glut of
retail resellers (quite many of them surely disreputable) pollutes online
search efforts.
To that end, I do believe that asking here for help after a reasonable
search is done, is prudent. If one had found such antennas, the probably
would never ask, unless it was to ask for advice on which to buy. Likely,
none were found. But the cause of a negative search is not always clear,
as there are many factors that can cause this, ranging from poor choice of
keywords by the searcher, to obscure availability by a smaller
manufacturer. Thus, I believe it is reasonable to ask. Such a thread can
also spur discussions on things like alternatives (e.g. using a UHF
antenna to get VHF-high, or the feasibility of combining 2 separate
antennas), and market issues (is it practical for a manufacturer to make
any), which may be interesting and informative to quite a number of people.
I've sure you'd have a suggestion of another forum to ask in.

| I do not believe that Antenna MFGRS have yet to 'name/advertise' a
|
| VHF-Hi/UHF antenna yet.. The Final digi frequencies should be
|
| Chan 7 thru Chan 51.... Antenna Manufacturers have to lop
|
| off VHF-Lo and UHF Chans 52 thru 69... Since these Chan
|
| 2 thru Chan 61 are in use today... This may not happen for
|
| 2 or 3 more years.... and Digital Chans 2 thru 6 may still
|
| exist in Alaska & other remote areas for some time....
|
| There are a few web sites on antenna performance thru GOOGLE...
|
| That tell you by graph that a Channel Master 4228 UHF does cover
|
| Chan 7 thru 61 very well... This is what you want....
|
| however it is not advertised that way
Digital channels 2-6 will exist in continental US as well. Have a look:

As I posted previously, the Channel Master 4228 does a very good
job with high band VHF channels, specifically 10 and 12 here in CT.

My observation exactly. Elminating 2-5 should cut the antenna
size by at least 50%.

Probably true.

Many areas that are now UHF only for HD will seemingly revert back to a mix.
I think people are going to crap about having to buy yet another antenna
after they got everything to work on UHF. I am pleased with the way UHF is
working out. Getting UHF HD stations from places where I can not get VHF
SD. Something to be said for 700 KW vs. 70 KW.
Any idea why some stations are missing from the list? For instance, channels
2, 9, and 11 in NYC.

Missing stations are likely ones that haven't made their choice yet. Since
the permanent tower/transmitter situation in NY is still not determined,
those stations may not have decided what they will do in the long run.

Probably -- though it's not like it's a secret those stations
are switching back to VHF.

That's surprising. Everywhere I've been, VHF (high or low)
reception has always been orders of magnitude better than UHF.

Surprise to me too. I had the antenna up for the better part of a month
before I even tried it. I can actually watch CBS HD in Philadelphia off the
back of the antenna. That's the one that is 700 KW. I have the Radio Shack
corner reflector/7 element Yagi plus Channel Master 7775 amp at 20 feet.
Meanwhile, NBC and PBS New York suck. I can get their SD with rabbit ears.

Probably won't happen. However, you can buy a hi-band VHF Yagi which can
easily be coupled to UHF only antenna.
