This post is in response to an ongoing thread among several big names in this group.

I must say, you guys do bitch an awful lot. Anything from nit-picky grammatical corrections to claiming political and religious motives behind each others' opinions.

My amplifier doesn't have a SOUL, nor it has it been active in any political campaign. During rebuilds, I never once consulted an Billy Graham nor Trent Lott (nor Lou Rukheyser or Michael Moore for that matter).

True, it does have character... usually pleasant character. In fact, I see my amplifier a companion. On rare occasion, it is an asshole... so I have to beat it up. Afterward, like an older brother, I patch it up & send it on to play more music.

This "machine" is 42 years old (almost as old as I). It has probably even played more music than I have listened to. It was probably playing Dave Brubeck while I was still crapping my diapers.

It is an adjunct of pleasure into my life... not a symbol of how good a person I am.

Nobody cares what finesse you use in designing, building or selecting components for your equipment. SET, THD, DHT, MagnaQuest... none of this makes you a better person or an terrorist.

So quit your bickering and stick to the technical side of this group!

All names are same size in my browser.

Use plain text please.

If you cut the bitching and the regurgitation of RDH, you would
have...er...John Stewart and the ads.

Our distinction is, after all, vacuum.

cheers, Ian

Why is it that when someone else has an issue or issues, it's "Bitching"
or "Whining" but when others that complain about all the bitching or
whining have a problem is is all right? Have you ever noticed that the
same type of person who puts everyone else down for complaining usually
has a no whining sign on their door and is also oblivious to their own
bitching and whining. Hmmm. This forum is full of egos. Deal with it.
It is also full of a lot of good information and a lot of those with the
biggest egos do actually have a lot of knowledge on the subject at hand.
Yes, many could find more diplomatic ways of presenting their ideas,
but at least they are sharing their knowledge. Yes, there are the petty
bickering threads and the ingenious comments by certain people which do
tend to be condescending but that is life on the internet. Many here
really enjoy a good debate on an issue concerning vacuum tube audio.
Sometimes the discussions do get a bit out of hand and off topic, but
more often then not, people are cool here.

I don't think you're talking about theology exactly, though it has its fair
share of disagreements and fanatics. I suspect you're talking about the
phenomenon we commonly know as 'trolls' - people who argue for the sake of
arguing and bring their chosen agendas to bear on everything, whose mission
seems to be to demonstrate that they are cleverer than everybody else and who
seem to be genetically equipped with cloth ears. You can follow this issue from
the Khyber Pass to Alpha Centauri and the answer you will find at the end of
the road is "don't feed the trolls". You have a 'select' button in your head
and indeed on your computer, and that's all you will ever need.
