Constant bit rate Mpeg 2 - Mac platform - need encoder |
|
|
I am producing work in Final Cut and need to export out to mpeg2 at a
true constant bit rate. As far as I can gather, Compressor 2 cannot
encode to a true constant bit rate.
Does anyone know of software that can take a QuickTime .mov and encode
to constant bit rate mpeg2 on a Mac platform?
Thanks in advance for any help or info

If you have access to a PC, I believe that Mainconcepts MPEG encoder will do
it, and also that the new version of TMPGE will as well. If you are only
able to do the conversion on the Mac, then Apple's optional MPEG encoder for
QuikTimePro may also work, but I have not tried it myself.

I did a bit of further research at: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/
The Apple plug-in for adding MPEG2 support only works in the opposite
direction, namely, to bring MPEG2 into Quicktime.
Sorry.

Digigami MegaPEG.X should be able to do what you want. If there's not
an included template that precisely meets your needs, you should be
able to customize your own.

BitVice does CBR. It's a nice pro app, and a little complex.
