I'm fairly new to this product and numerous searches have not revealed the
effect I'm looking for.

I hope I am able to explain it!

Imagan some text which I want to make circular similar to the numbers on a
clock face. For for example the word "commitment" would be wrapped so the
last T is next to the first C and visible (as I said earlier) like the
numbers on a clock face.

I now want to be able rotate this word around a central point. This bit isnt
difficult the part I#m struggling with is how to make the text circular in
the first place. I cant find anything suitable in the animation presets -
the closest I get is to the path and loop options.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Look up Path Text in the Help files. Here is a step by step tutorial.

Keyframe the postion property of the text for the movement.

Your quite welcome. You will however, likely become addicted to After
Effects.

There are three books by Chris and Trish Meyers that are excellent for
learning AE which contain a number of excellent tutorials.
