I recorded a program with my Panasonic Video Recorder and then used
VideoReDo to remove the commercials. I saved the resulting file as a VOB
file and would like to burn it on DVD-R media. I tried Nero Express but
it
is taking about 90 minutes for a 1.4GB VOB file.
What is the best software for quickly burning the VOB to a DVD? Unless I
am
missing something there is no need to re-encode since it is already in a
VOB
format so the burning should be quick - right?

use TMPGEnc DVD Author, if the source file is fully mpeg2 then TDA will
not reencode it.
TDA works best if you create a mpeg2 file instead of VOB with VideoRedo.

Right, if you want a DVD that is like the ones you buy,
then it needs to be authored. If you are collecting hour
long shows, you probably would want three or four on
a DVD, so a simple menu to select among then would
be a good idea. This is also made during the authoring.
Even if you are recording a movie and don't need a menu,
it is a good idea to have chapter points in your video to
allow for easy navigation using the remote's next button.
I am a big fan of TDA also, and I feed it .mpg files that
are the segments between the commercials cut out by
VideoReDo. www.pegasys-inc.com or
www.tmpg-inc.com (for the US market)
If you really wanted to use .vob files you could make the
rest of the required files with IfoEdit, but that requires
some real technical understanding of how a DVD is made.
It is much more practical to have VideoReDo output .mpg
and use that in your favorite authoring program.
Luck;
