Why is it that when the band dont spec a seperate monitor board (and
certainly aint paying for one) they look to the side of teh stage for a
monitor engineer. When you put one in.. they get onto you first.
Personally i'd spot the PM3500 to the side of the stage.

I often get the opposite. Band members asking me for 'house mix'
adjustments/requests. *I'm* the monitor guy!

Why would band memebers ask for that?

surely its the job of the foh guy*

*this is purely from a hearing point of view. The band not being able to
tell what the FOH mix is like on stage.

(musician motions for more x in his mix)

(you grasp appropriate knob and without changing the setting you look up
with an inquiring expression)

(musician nods, smiles, goes back to playing)

(you take your hand off the knob, glance down at a couple eq settings,
look back at stage)

Of course my take on the whole thing is that he was in fact completely Arny

If you'd stop making personal stabs like this, the newsgroup would be a

Took me a bit, to sort it out. Being a yank, and all.
"DFA" = Does Fuck All ???
Correct ?

Related to same...
While doing FOH, road manager or some other
'peripheral shit-head' (as I call them) comes over
and asks for more "X" on the "X" channel. So, I do the
magic twist. It appears that my hand has turned a pot,
but I've actually done nothing at all. I ask: "Is that better?'
Of course the reply is an emphatic "yes".

Then , there's always the significant other, who wants to hear
more of their sweetie, no matter how loud, or where they belong
in the mix.

Had a good one, this past Summer. Son of a well known couple
was the headliner. His mom was singing back-up. Mom thought the
FOH mix could be best determined by her niece, who sat right at the
lip of the stage, and made suggestions. Niece can hear a ton of
center vox, through the wedges. So, mom thinks that maybe the
monitors should be shut off.
Had a couple of female friends hanging out w/me at montior world,
during show. I cued the mom's vox into my wedge. The ladies were
appalled at how BAD the vocals were.
It was sort of a Linda Mc******* moment.

Q: How do you know when ***** ***** is at your door?
(Not Linda)
A: She doesn't have the key, and doesn't know when to come in.

My Favourite moment was when the frontman for a blues / rock group came
up to me and said: "Listen, Our bassist sucks, make sure he hears
himself nice and loud in his monitors, but make sure no one else hears
him ! "

Interesting Dynamic that band had !!

The whole lot of 'em are incurable, I think. Killfiles aren't a
solution, but at least they keep me from being tempted to get involved.

He's not a really big name, so to speak. Been around for ages, though.
Uses "Junior" as part of his moniker.

Not my guy then.

Well if he regularly sings about his "Ding-a-ling" then you might not have
to worry......... didn't go on stage at the gig I was doing in the Glasgow
Concert Hall....... went off to his hotel instead of the stage and after 60
minutes of "No-show" promoter had to pull the gig.. scary....... you don't
want to be at FOH when 3000 Glaswegians are told the act they paid for isn't
going to show...... I can safely assert that he won't be playing Glasgow (or
Scotland probably) again! BTW he eventually showed up an nearly two hours
after his show time and appeared to be quite surprised that the gig had been
pulled!!?

A regular occurence if the anecdotes are to be believed............

Orra best!!

Since when is CB a "well known blues guitarist"?
Different genre, IMO.
