here
goes....
I have a Yamaha 01/V that has been used as my IEM rig mixer for a number
of
years now and is a filthy mess outside and probably inside as well.
Years of rodeo/county fair/ dust bowl outdoor shows have begun to take
their
toll on a few of the buttons and quite a few of them are failing. I'm
assuming the thing is just full of road cheese and dirt and I'd like to
open
it up and see if I can clean it out a little.
I don't have any rush to get it back in shape as I had a backup unit and
recently changed it out. The old one is sitting downstairs and is
waiting
for some TLC. If it's dead, it's not a huge deal as it has MORE than
served it's purpose but I'd like to see if I can get inside it and douche
it
out to milk a little more use out of it.
Anyone ever done this? Anyone know any secrets I might be able to apply
before I go after it with a screwdriver and can of contact cleaner?
Any tips from the pros would be really appreciated....
Thanks in advance.

Pat,
I just recently cleaned one of mine that was on the county fair circuit this
summer. Fairly straight forward. Be careful of all the ribbon cables. I
normally disconnect them to clean everything. If you do label them well. I
usually use deoxit and pro gold to clean with. Don't use rat shack tuner
cleaner!
Compressed air blows all the major chunks and dirt first. The toughest thing
to reach is the display. It just takes awhile to disassemble the whole
thing.
I think I've got it down to a couple of hours to do it right. The first time
was quite a bit longer.
While you have it apart you might also want to replace the battery. It's
only a couple of bucks but while you're in there...
Just take you time and be careful. I had a customer that tried cleaning a 01
Pro Mix....only took me a couple of hours to figure out what he screwed up
and clean it properly.
Have fun...
