Autoset Clock |
|
|
OK, I KNOW it's a TV question in the VCR group, but here it goes....
My JVC TV has the Autoset Time Clock function enabled. If there is a
power outage, I tune to my local PBS station (basic cable), and I'm
fine. But if I go to the Discovery Channel, my clock is reset to A
RANDOM TIME. Not off by X hours, but way off... And if I reset it by
going to PBS, then back to Discovery, the clock is way off, but
different than the 1st time. I have Comcast in New Hampshire. Is this
a problem with Discovery Channel, OR with Comcast??
Any ideas on a fix???

Gene, in the JVC basic Setup, having set it for Cable reception you have to
tell it what channel the PBS station is on. Then when it sets time it will
go there. Denzil.

OK,
If I change to cable TV reception, it scans the channels - but no
setting for a channel to set. If I go to the auto time set feature, my
only options are auto or manual. No place to set the channel...
Any other ideas???

Are you sure about that? On my VCR, selecting auto/manual is just
where I get to select the channel it will use.
It's only if I select auto/auto that it scans the channels.

I guess it's gotten better, but I used that a couple times on our local
PBS stations (Washington DC area) and gave up on it when I came home one
afternoon to see the VCR clock be off by several hours. Ever since
then, I gave up and I just set the clock manually. More accurate that
way, at least for me anyway. |

Yeh, I know... My problem is that my power "flickers" - out for about
20 seconds - 2-3 times a week..... Power company says they have no
record of outages... I assume it's due to all the new homes being
constructed up the road - but that's my problem!

I agree. I have two RCAs that are 9-10 years old and another RCA a
year or two newer than those. Early on, I contacted Thomson because
when I used auto clock set, if I taped two programs which were
consecutive but on different channels, the second program turned out
to be from the first program's channel. The Thomson guy told me to
turn off auto clock set. That solved the problem and I never used
auto clock set again. |
