no capture device??? |
|
|
I have some footage from my sony handycam that I am trying to capture
on my computer, but I'm baffled on actually capturing the video. The
only connection that came with the handycam was a USB cord. I have
tried using Combustion 4 and VirtualDub 1.6 to capture, yet neither
show having a "capture device". Recently I installed "WDM Video
Capture Driver for Bt848 / Bt849 / Bt878 & Bt879 Chipsets" which I
downloaded from sourceforge, but no luck.
specs:
Intel 845GM hipset
Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop
ram, processor, blah, blah, blah
Thanks, Blake

Read your manual for the camera. The USB connection is more than likely for
still images, not video streams. Is the camera a Digital 8? Firewire is the
proper interface for video capture. Again, read the manual, it's really the
place where your question is answered. Stating you have a Sony Handycam is
no help to anyone here. Sony has been calling camcorders "Handycam" since
the first 8mm and Hi8 models.

When in doubt, read the manual. Unless you just like the taste of toe jam.
