Ok... Like I said in my last post, I'm currently shooting with a Sony PD-150
and hope to upgrade to something like a Sony HVR-Z1U by the end of the year.
My old edit suite just bit the dust and I'm looking to replace it as fast as
possible. Based on my last post it looks like I can just go with Premiere
Pro and a firewire card, but I'm currently in a position where I need to
master back to BetaSP (more specifically a UVW-1800). Not to mention that
I'd like to have a way to bring audio into the system via my Mackie 1202. My
total budget for the system can't go over $10,000 so does anyone have any
suggestions for a way to output to BetaSP as well as bring audio in from a
source other than firewire for a decent amount of money? Or should I just
start looking at more of a turn key system for my needs?

Have you looked at / considered the Blackmagic-Design range of I/O
boards?

Not sure whether Canopus eidus set will allow this configuration, won't any
card Matrox, canopus etc allow you to input from BETA / analogue audio???

Someone else just sent me a link to that site... do you or do you know

anyone that has any experience using their products? I've tried calling some
of their local reps but they just don't seem to know very much about the
product.

One of my clients uses it, and is sold on it completely.

It does have one drawback, which probably won't apply, as it deals with
syncing it to an external system : It lacks a genlock input, making it
impossible to use it as a source with his live studio setup. (He solved it
by just running it through a frame sync.)

Thanks! That shouldn't be an issue for me.

Since you're doing some planning you might as well work the time code
angle too. Matrox can support time code with a third party card but you
might like this one better.

Hope that helps.

Thanks! I looked at the 10 and the 30 originally but then I decided that I'd

like to add Boris Red to the software mix and that sort of blew my budget a
little out of the water. I should just be mastering back to an UVW-1800 for
distribution to TV stations so I think I can get by with crash recording
into it from my system. And hopefully I won't need to grab any footage from
it at all.
