every way except the sound quality. Basically it seems to distort all
but the quietest sounds.
If I record someone speaking then when I play it back via the telly the
picture quality is fine, but the sound 'wobbles' slightly, the best way
I can describe it is that it makes people sound a bit like darliks!
Has anyone else got one of these camcorders, if so how do you find the
sound quality?
...am I just expecting too much from a cheapish camcorder? I am highly
impressed by all the other functions so I dont think im just being hard
to please.
Definitely a problem with your particular camcorder.
Any advise appreciated.

PS - Anyone know what the warranty is on Sony camcorders? Ive had it
about 4 or 5 months now (only just started transfering stuff)
Your first line of attack is to take it (send it) back to where you |
bought it. According to legislation *you* have the choice of either (a)
getting it replaced, (b) letting the shop/outlet get it repaired, or (c)
getting a full refund.
I'd avoid (b) since it gives the shop/outlet the ability to mess you
about. If you're otherwise happy with your camcorder, I'd suggest (a).
Because of the mutually exclusive options of (a) and (c), shops will
often allow you to exchange it for a more expensive model with a cash
adjustment - but this is not a statutory right.
When (if) you take it back, I'd suggest pre-recording some sounds and
carrying a pair of headphones so that you can demonstrate the fault.
Because of the reluctance of some high-street shops to remedy things,
you may have to insist of talking to the manager (ask for names when
you're in the shop). If you still have problems getting the option that
you want, ask for the address of their head office, and say you're going
to the local Trading Standards Office.
Best if luck.
