I have a minor problem on my setup that I'm trying to correct.
Occasionally on DVDs, when the action is fast and furious or the image
is changing a lot on screen, the signal doesn't get through and I get a
"No Signal" message on the TV screen. As I said it only happens during
fast changes on the screen, eg during the opening scene in Highlander
where the camera flashes go off in the crowd, so I'm guessing the
cables aren't getting the image through. It only lasts 1-2 seconds at
most so isn't a huge problem.

I'm using a Samsung DVD-V6500 connected via component cables to an LG
DLP Rear Projection. This problem only occurs when using component,
when using the yellow video cable there's no problem except the quality
isn't as good and I do like component quality picture.

The cable I currently use is the standard RGB Bing Lee cheapo. I've
tried Dick Smith Titanium Series gold plated but got no better results.

Any suggestions on which cable to sort out the problem. Or perhaps it
isn't the cable at all...

Try another DVD player if you can or another display device and see if

it still happens, the process of elimination to find the culprit.

I live in South Korea, where both of your components are manufactured,
by two fierce rivals. I have also expierienced some strange occurances,
that I burnt some music onto a CD and tried it in an LG cd player and
it didn't work. Burnt the same music onto an LG cd and it worked.
I think you will probably find it is a Korean thing. Buy a new CD
player!!!!!!! LG might work well with LG television.
But seriously I don't know!!!

It sounds like the RP TV. There should not be an issue with the display
device and it is unlikely that the on screen message is being displayed
by the DVD. The RP TV is having issues with the signal coming in. You
can fix the signal coming in (by replacing the DVD player) or you can
fix the RP TV. Is the display still under warranty? What is the model?

If you still cant resolve the issue, try Bill Knobel
(bill.knobel@lge.com.au), he is an Engineer there. Don't tell him where
you got his details.

Doesn't sound like a cable problem to me.

I was getting similar problems on a Sony LCD Grand Vega which was being fed
a Prgressive signal via component from a Sony DVD/VCR combo. Only thing was
that the TV would loose the signal in bright scenes. I ended up changing the
DVD player and had no problems. Borrow a new DVD player from someone and see
if it happens again.
