My PC (winxp SP1) don't recognize Panasonic dvd recorder DMR E60. It
recognize like AV/C subunt. I like to transfer personal video to DVD
recorder via i-link.
I think problem is in my PC (drivers or something elese). My i-link
work very fine with other standalone devices, like SONY, but with
Panasonic nothing. Eny idea or some URL?

Thanks in advance
Vladimir

The i-link socket is only for connecting a camcorder, it will not work
for connecting a PC.

In the US, the firewire connection has been made input only (unidirectional)
by demands of the MPAA under the DMCA (legal act to prevent copying). I
suspect worldwide dvd recorders are specifically configured NOT to provide
PC access.

The same is true of Tivo type boxes, although hackers have found ways to
change this.

However, I believe the complaint was that the firewire *input* was not
working. It should work, so it sounds like you have a problem. My Phillips
works fine from cmacorder or from the computer, your Panasonic should do the
same.

However, one thing with my set up, the computer can't control the recorder
and I have to manually push the record button.

I don't think so. The individual wants his dvd recorder to act as a
peripheral to his PC.

Then I suspect it will be the same as with my recorder. I certainly can record
video from the computer, but I can controll the recorder. I don't find that a
problem, but it isn't fully automated.

my output from PC.
Any sugestions?

When my Phillips is connected via iLink, my computer thinks it is seing a
camcorder, but it does not control the functions. So, I start export and push
the record button manualy. I don't consider it a major inconvience. However, I
am on a Mac so that may be part of the difference.

Vladimir,
This is what happens when I connect my PC, (XP Prof-SP1). It finds new
hardware and downloads drivers but stops at AV/C Sub unit. There are pages
on the web which try to help you connect camcorders to Panasonic DVD
recorders, mine recognises my 3 Sony's without any problems.
Its the PC it does'nt like. I thought Firewire or i-link was universal. I'm
not trying to control my camcorders, just want to transfer edited footage to
DVD.

I try many times searching for solutions of my problem, but I found
nothing.
Only what I find is edit software PANASONIC MOTIONDV STUDIO 4.7 but
I'm not very certain that is right stuff for me. Can you give me some
URL to find the answer.

Many thanks in advance
Vladimir

P.S. Excuse me for my English

Vlasimir,
If I understand correctly, you want the movies that are in your p/c
recorded to your stand-alone dvd writer....right?

I doubt you will be able to do this by connecting the writer to your p/c
as it's,the dvd writer, not made to work that way.

However I'm sure your writer has a S-Video connection. If your video card
has a "TV OUT",most do,then you can view your movies on your TV & record
them to your writer that way.

Vladimir,
Your English is OK, much better than my languages.
I do not know what the URL address is but is you search for Panasonic forums
and post a question someone may be able to give us an answer to this.
Someone has done it but I have lost the instructions. There has been another
post in this thread saying we can use the S-VHS from a video card to record
on the Panasonic but the quality is not the same. We will just have to keep
looking
