Sony Handycam HC21 problems |
|
|
I swear-- I'll never buy another Sony product. Everything I've ever
gotten has been a nightmare-- but I'm stuck with it now....
I have a Handycam HC21 that I've taken a few videos of my daughter
with. Contrary to what many other posts have said, I am able to get the
vdeos onto my computer through the USB cable. I'm not looking to make
a high quality video-- just archive my daughter growing up (embarassing
home videos for my future teenager!). But I'm not able to get still
pictures from the camera; Sony says I need to buy a iLink cable for
that. When I first set the Picture Perfect software up, I remember
having a function to capture still pictures from the video-- but now I
can't find it. Of course, Sony has been less than helpful, and the
Picture Package website doewsn't help explain how to do it either. Can
you help?
Thanks
A Mom who just wants a cute picture from the Halloween parade!

I don't know the HC21, but on my Sony TRV22 (about a year earlier) I was
able to take "snaps" when replaying the video by pressing the picture-taking
button at the appropriate time. The snaps were recorded to the Memory
Stick, and if necessary downloaded to my PC via a (slow) USB cable. (If
you've mislaid the instructions, you can download manuals from Sony's
website.)

For starters the HC21 is the bottom of the pile and does not have a memory
card, second to get high quality you need to use Firewire to transfer the
data not USB, USB is only for low quality. RTFM. If you want stills get the
HC32 or a digital camera.
Anyway, my #2 son took a HC21 to Thailand and mahaged to get it full of
seawater, bye bye HC21. |

Not to disappoint you, but the still pictures won't be that good. I have
the HC20, which is the previous model, as a video camera its great but as
a still camera it sucked. |
