I just got a brand new JVC HD-52Z585 HD-ILA TV and I cannot get the HDMI
connection between the TV and my SA8300HD cable box to work. I had the TV
service guy look at it and he couldn't get it to work either. He speculated
that the JVC set is so new that not all of the bugs may have been worked
out, particularly with regards to the HDMI connection. On the other hand,
the cable box has not been without its issues either when it comes to HDMI.
Anyone had the same experience? And found a solution?

Call your cable company (?)and ask if Scientific Atlanta 'enabled' the HDMI
port AND if the cable company 'supports' it.

Update. I did call the cable company and yes, the HDMI port was enabled on
their cable box.

I then called the guys I bought the set from and they sent a service man
over with an HDMI DVD player and different cable, and when he hooked it up,
still no sound or picture. They swapped the set for me and now the problem
is is no more. Digital to digital with no analogue conversion! Picture is
fantastic!
