Too much red when videoing 8mm film... |
|
|
The 8mm film looks good. When I try to video tape
(no matter how I do it) it all looks red.
Using a Sony dcr-trv510 to capture. Cant find any
color adjustments. Helppppp :)

Does your projector have a tungsten lamp. If so your camcorder must be set
for tungsten, 3400 K, or "indoors".

How can I adjust the white balance? None of the
menus or options adjust that. Closest I can find
is an exposure control (which I know isnt it)

You probably don't have manual white balance, but you probably have a
set of half a dozen or so settings for things like. Sports, Indoors,
Portrait and so on. |

Your camera model seems to be infamous for its lack of
white-balance control. Perhaps you should try projecting/
shooting against something in a pale cyan (blue-green) color. |

You could try using a colour correcting filter such as an 80A. You can
pick them up quite cheaply and stick them onto your lens mount with
Bluetac if you don't have the correct screw fitting. You could also try
it on your projector lens.
It sounds as if your camera will not attempt to correct the filter
colour so you should be ok.
The following is taken from a photographic catalogue:
"80" series filters are color conversion filters for the use of
daylight type color films with artificial light source.
· 80A increases the color temperature from 3200°K to 5500°K for the
use with 3200°K lamps (household incandescent bulbs).
· 80B increases the color temperature from 3400°K to 5500°K for the
use of photoflood lamps.
· 80C increases the color temperature from 3800°K to 5500°K for the
use of clear flash bulbs. |
