I have 'run' a number of MPEG2 files and they all have
the sound out of sync with the video. Some have the sound
as much as 6 seconds EARLY and some have the sound 1 to 3
seconds LATE. Some clips were downloaded and some were
created by a variety of means.

How do I approach analyzing / fixing this!?

What program are you using to edit/compress the videos in?

The downloaded clips may be corrupt. Coming from another source of editing
may be a loss.

If your program allows you to separate and compress in video or audio only,
try that. Then, join the video and audio tracks together and recompress them
to MPEG video.
