Anyone else having problems playing DivX files on their Philips DVP642
DVD player? So far I've been unable to consistently play DivX files
burned onto CDR or DVD/R discs. I get screen freezes, busted audio etc
etc. Any ideas?

Thanks,

D

Lots of little tricks. I play 90% of online files and 100% of what I encode
myself on this particular beast. This thread will give you all the info:

I have this device also and it works quite well. I do believe that it
requires that the audio in the divx avi file be encoded in mp3.
Whether that not being true would cause all the problems you are seeing
I don't know. The other suggestion is to verify that they are divx
encoded and that they are encoded to meet the prescribed standard for
these devices.

I also have a Philips DVP642, and thankfully there's an online group of
DVP642 owners:

Start by doing a search for the Holy Grail Guide, which explains how to
determine if an AVI will play okay, and how to modify it if not.

Cheers, D
