Can the frame size of an mpg file be reduced? How?
In a hurry not to miss the beginning of the movie, I started recording
of "Bounce" without selecting a smaller size of frame. Now I find that
NeroVision Express has done the capture in size 720 x 480. It is not
possible to accommodate the full movie taking about 7 GB on a 4.7 GB
DVD which is what my Sony DVD Writer permits now.
Can I save the file reducing the size of the frame to 50 or 60% so that
it fits on a 4.7 GB DVD? With which software can such a reduction be
achieved?
Is there any other way of reducing the file size on the hard disk?
Thanks for any useful suggestions.

Adjust your bit rate and you should be able to get the size down.

When making Video DVD In Nero click "More | Video Options | DVD Video
| Custom | BitRate"

TMPGEnc also is good for resampling transcoding

Thanks for your reply. I tried to apply the More-Video-Custom-BitRate
option while addng the Capture File saved in the NeroVision Folder but
when the file was inserted in the recording sequence, it did not show
reduction in its size. Perhaps what you have suggested must be done at
the time of the initial capture itself and would not work for my
objective of converting an already captured file. Am I right?

After you adjust BitRate option, you have to press "o.k." for bit rate
setting to show up in "Used space x out of 4.38GB" bar graph.
