Hi all, sorry to be a pain but can anyone give me a guider here.
I am in the UK and have a fairly standard Hitachi 28" wide screen TV, home
cinema with DVD and a bog standard video all fed from NTL cable.
I am buying a Liteon LVW-5005 DVD recorder and presume it will simply chain
in at the end between the DVD home cinema and the TV. I am assuming there
may be a possible conflict on channels with either the video or the other
DVD so I may have to change one or the other. The model I am getting the
Europe one with the two scart sockets.
Am I correct in that and is there any other things that I should be aware of
please. I went for the liteon as I have a DVD burner and a DVD Rom from
Liteon in my computer and I have been impressed with them. I know the
LVW-5005 is multiformate and I think it is multiregional as well.
Any comments greatly appreciated.

Not asking is dumber than most questions :-)
I'm not familiar wiht SCART, but in the US with normal A/V cables
(Audio L+R & composite video) it is as you say.
I was surprised that the RF-out cable was just a pass-through of the
RF in, and can not be used to view DVD playback or whatever.
My US 5005 plays PAL and converts it to NTSC, and it looks pretty
good. I believe I could make it output in PAL, but my TV doesn't do
very well with the PAL.
There is a remote hack to change regions or make it region free.
http://forum.liteonit.com.tw/ is one place - browse it a bit...
http://www.digitalfaq.com/reviews/liteon.htm is a bit confusing to
me, and it mixes 5001 and 5005 info, but it's worth a look.
HTH,
Gino

Thanks Gino,
I got it up and running after only one failed, well not failed just not
nice, attempts.
I chained it so I had one loop starting with the cable box then the video
the Liteon DVD recorder then to the TV.
The second loop went straight from the Cable box to the DVD player/home
cinema box and then to the other scart of the TV.
I used a three cable AV connection from the DVD recorder to the DVD player
so I can route both Video and the DVD recorder through the 5.1 sound system.
This way changing channels between each piece of equipment is easy, the
other way I had it I would have to have them all turned on to allow the
signal to get through for some reason.
Guess I went from "novice" to "not quite so novice" today. <VBG>
Thanks again for replying.
The Liteon is a good bit of kit and so easy to use, the manual for the UK is
not so good as it only has the American connections shown and referenced. I
am impressed with the quality of recording and the versatility of it
allowing me to record an hour show on a CD even, great for those single
documentaries you fancy keeping.

The manual I got from this page,
http://www.liteonit.com.tw/DC/english/csd.htm
shows the SCART connections too.
On the orange (right) side of the page, choose English in the drop-
down box for LVW-5001. It is for the 5005 as well.
I'm glad you got it sorted finally. That is how we all become less
of a novice!
Good luck,
Gino
