This site calls it vaporware as of December of this year....but as that date
has yet to come...that statement is difficult to understand entirely. The
site suggests that its at least several months away.
Searching the Nikon site shows no mention of "d200"
Other sites suggest that we may see some announcements in Feb for PMA 2005
and maybe this camera will be one that is announced. Looks like an
interesting camera. Worth waiting for if your current camera does a decent
job...not worth waiting for if you have to buy soon.

Of course they are. Do you think Nikon is just going to abandon that booming

Specifically? Don't know, of course. But I DO have one tidbit, for what
it's worth:
Caught the Nikon sales rep at my local dealer where I'm well known. He
asked my impressions of the D-70; I told him I'd buy if they had a
camera with the D70's electronics and the D100's viewfinder. (I dislike
the pentamirror setup of the D-70, and want a real pentaprism).
I was quietly told to wait until spring. |

And what will the spec. be.
My guess is 12 to 14mp, priced at about 1200 UKP. As the D100 is
pretty near perfection, its hard to see what, other than res. could be
improved.

Nikon has the 12MP camera in the pipeline, but it ain't D200.
Does anybody know if Sony has a cheaper sensor for Nikon and other camera
manufacturers besides this one being used in D2X? Maybe 8MP is closer to
reality? |
