Hi All,
Can anyone see where I've gone wrong here.. Just up'd to a new 108,
just swapped out from a 104 which was working fine.
Now when I try to burn a dvd, it starts fine but after about 30 secs the
buffer drops to zero and burning only goes at 0.1 ?? The speed will pick up
again to x4 for a while and then drop back. The buffer display on Alcohol
show it dropping rapidly to 0.
I've chk'd the dma and no channels are set to pio, I've got the latest
drivers for the motherboard, the hd it's reading from is an sata 200 gig
with loads of free space and has been defragged. I've tried different discs
(I've only got x4 disc at the mo).
and I've tried using Alcohol (latest) and Nero (6.3.1.6).
I've tried img files and video_ts and I get the same result !!

I'm using the same media that worked on the 104 and I've even tried test
burning an image file which would burn fine at x4 with the 104 but now won't
with the 108 ??

Do I need to remove all the burning s/w and reinstall ? that's about the
only thing I haven't tried so far ?

Anyone have a suggestion ??

Many thanks

Steve

What a pathetic answer. If you didn't understand the question, why
bother to reply?

1. Try different media.
2. Reinstall Nero with the *previous* version 6.3.1.25 or so and see if the
latest version is buggy.
3. Exchange the drive for a new one.

I have every model of Pioneer burner, including the 04 and 08 in the same
machine, and they all work perfectly with the Nero 6.3.1.25...and that
includes double layer on the 08.

I've always wondered about the morons who find it necessary to do this
"plonk" thing publicly.

Thanks. I've uninstalled everything and just put Alcohol back, only as it

give a speed and buffer level reading. But it's made no difference at all.
Strangely, testing with both x4 and x8 media the time before the buffer
drops is the same, about 30 sec's even though the data written is, obviously
, more !
I'm not sure what that means ? Duff drive maybe ? something over
heating or the motor having a problem ? The cpu usage reading on Alcohol
never peaks above about 30% and is normally at about 6% so I don't think
it's a computer issue ?
