I have been replacing many equipment bulbs about the studios with LEDs.
In most indicators they work great. I am looking for something that I
can use for 1176, LA-3A, dbx, etc. meters. Using LED replacements for
7382 or 1916 bulbs does not work well because the LEDs shine into the
front panel not down on the meter.
Some company must make a small PC board with a strip of white or yellow
LEDs to mount over a meter, but my searches have turned-up nothing.
Anyone know of anything? I am not interested in doing any
breadboarding. . .
thanks!

I can make something for you, if you want to give me some specs.

What color? What DC voltage do you have?

Go to the Digikey website www.digikey.com -- enter "light bar" into the
search engine --

LED's don't like to be paralleled (uneven distribution of current) so they
will have to be daisy-chained in series. You can enter search parameters
like dimensions, millicandela rating etc. in the DK search engine.

You can put any number of LEDs ~each with its own current limiting resister~
in parallel as long as there is enough current there to supply all of them.
If you only have 5 volts to work with and you want to light up a bunch of
LEDs there is no other way. Remember, the junction voltages add up if you
put them in series. If you want to light up 100 LEDs with 1.7 volt
junctions, it would take 170 volts DC just to get them all to open to
current flow, if they are in series. Never put raw LEDs in parallel. There
will be slight miss matches in their junction voltages.
