I have 2 4 inch 4 omh audiobahn speakers, and 2 6x9 4 ohm audiobahn
speakers, i just bought a 4 channel 600 watt audiobahn amplifier. I
would like to wire this preferably to 2 ohms total so i can be driving
the amp at 2 ohms(150 watts per channel) instead of 4 ohms(75 watts per
channel). Also how do i hook up the rcas, do i have to run two seperate
rca's?

If you have a 4-channel amp, and four 4-ohm speakers, then there's
really no good way to present each channel of the amp with a 2-ohm
load, unless you put two speakers on a single amplifier channel.

As for the RCA inputs, some amps will take a single pair of RCA inputs
and use it to "feed" all four amplifier channels, or you can use a
Y-splitter to turn one pair of RCA inputs into two pairs. With either
method, you'll lose the ability to adjust front-rear fading from the
head unit. If your head unit has separate preamp outputs for front
and rear, you're probably better off using the two pairs of preamp
outputs from the deck and running two pairs of wires to the amp.

What you are trying to do is not possible with the equipment you have
You cannot make a 4-ohm speaker run at 2-ohms.

If you really want to run at 2-ohms, then you will need to dump th
Audiobahn speakers and go with something like the Infinity 42.7i (4
2-ohm) and the 692.7i (6x9 2-ohm)... but I'm guessing they are a bi
more money.

If you want to retain the ability to fade between the 4-inchers and th
6x9's, you will need to run two separate sets of RCA's. If you don'
care about fading out the rears, then you can use a single run wit
Y-adaptors... but I would really recommend NOT going that route

Remember though, you can still fade it out manually with the gains on the
amplifier.

Excellent point... one that I had obviously overlooked

True, but that requires accessing the amp. If you want to just set the
levels and leave them, that's fine, but if you want adjust the fade
balance regularly, it's not very practical.

You could bridge it down to two channels and run one of each speaker in a
parallel pair at 2 ohms. two left, two right.

A few problems with that...

1) The amp isn't going like running two bridged 2-ohm loads.

2) He will lose all front/rear fading ability.

3) If the 6x9's are more sensitive (typically they are), then the rear
will be loud er than the fronts (not good)

Why is it not good to have the rears run louder than the fronts?
New setup.......... i scraped the 4 channel amp and i bought an 400 rms
2 ohm 2 channel and a 200 watt rms 2 ohm 2 channel , these will be
hooked up to 2 6x9 200 watt rms each speakers and 2 4" 100 watt rms
each speakers therese also going to be an eternal subwoofer in the
trunk with an 800 watt rms amp feeding it, and a 3 farad cap to power
it, the sound will be produced with an alpine cd/mp3 player, will this
sound good, by the way everything but the headunit is audiobahn

Because you want the sound to be coming from in front of you. Tha
should be the goal of a decent sound system... to reproduce music wit
a somewhat realistic FRONT stage. When you go to a concert, you don'
turn your back to the stage, do you? Why would you want to do that i
your car

Rear speakers being louder would be fine if your ears were pasted on
backwards. No, seriously. The pinna attenuate high frequencies. Your
effective frequency response of your ears with sound coming from the front
is greater than with sound coming from behind you. Here's a test: play
your rear speakers alone while facing forward, and then cup your hand in
front of your ear. Sound better?

" Your effective frequency response of your ears with sound coming from the

so the rears should be louder to make up for it!! (i'm kidding btw)

not that it matters now but... audiobahn amps list this as a feature and

post specs for this very config

true, just going with what he had at the moment
