I encountered an I/O error when shrinking a dvd. It persisted to 100
retries when I aborted the program.
What causes these errors and can you safely ignore them? I'm a newbie
and need advice.

The only time I have seen these erros was when I had a noticeably scratched
DVD that I was trying to archive.

don't ignore these errors unless you really like producing coasters

as for whats causing them, usually its things like scratches on the
source DVD

a suggestion would be to try and copy the disk onto HDD before shrinking
