How is this Tivo's fault? Or CBS's fault for that matter?

TiVo too dumb to adjust to program time changes.

How do you suggest they do this? Your previous suggestion is simply
not possible...next.

CBS for not
following their posted schedule.

So now you expect them to be mindreaders? What happens when a MLB
game goes 18 innings? Just becasue you choose not to watch a popular
sport on TV they should do it YOUR way?

this is too confusing for you just let it go.

So you resolved your issue but still felt the need to bitch to a
bunch of people that cant help and I am the confused one?

Apparently you lack even a basic understanding of your hardware and
even less about TV schedules.

They lied. Without service, you have a paperweight.

I have a Sony SVR-3000 (Series 2) with a bunch of recorded stuff on its
HDD. I recently hooked up a SA 8300HD, and have subsequently transferred
all recordings from the TiVo to the SA 8300HD. So if I were to cancel my
TiVo subscription, even if I can't record anything with the TiVo, can I at
least watch my recorded programs? Thanks.

Yes, you may watch your recorded programs, but in everything else, your
TiVo is nothing but a steel box.

So basically all I am getting from TiVo is a TV guide. I can look at TV
guide online free and program my own time slots for recording without TiVo.
What am I paying TiVo for again?

I don't know, why don't you sell the TiVo and go back to a VCR so you
can stop trolling here.

How are we to know why you are paying TiVo? We're not mind readers. Why
don't you tell us why you're paying TiVo? Most of us get a lot more out
of it so we pay TiVo for those things but if you think you are only
getting a TV guide out of it, that must be why you're paying them.

So you don't HAVE to check every day to see if any of the time slots
changed (which is actually fairly common). Tivo will pick up on
changes more than a day in advance. So you don't HAVE to review
every day what you've got programmed to record when there are
schedule conflicts that changed. The season pass priority scheme
doesn't always do what I want it to, nor can I express 100% of what
I want it to do, but most of the time it's very good. And it
does allow me to make exceptions for things, like when I got a bad
copy of something (weather warnings, Presidential news conferences,
football, breaking news stories, bad weather -> lousy reception,
etc.) and really want to record the same episode again. Trying to
compute it manually would be messy, especially the part about not
recording duplicates of the same episode).

I could generate electricity riding an exercise bike. What am I paying
the electric company for again?

You said it right there. No subscription "commitment" required. It
doesn't say, "No subscription required".

No, that's completely untrue. You're claiming the scheduling features
are completely worthless because it won't pickup unannounced scheduling
changes. But unscheduled changes are the *exception* not the rule. In
the other 99.5% of the time the scheduling procedure works fine. The .5%
doesn't invalidate everything else.

Too bad there isn't a VCR in my plonk file. You could enjoy it.

Oh wait, not only will it not deal with unscheduled changes, it won't even
deal with the scheduled ones! Poor baby!

All they have to do is have some gimp click their mouse and send the signal

Yeah, right. You expect TiVo HQ to place 1 million phone calls
simultaneously? It wouldn't work anyway; TiVo units that use the
phone only call in to HQ - they never pick up on incoming calls.
TiVo units connected to the Internet check in periodically, but
that is not guaranteed to work without an hour's lead time.

This "rocket science" would also require separate notifications
for TiVo, DirecTV, Dish Network, Replay, etc.
