That's partly why I don't like multi-disc carousel.
Yeah .. my car has a six CD changer in it. I rue the day when it fails.
You don't have all your cd's "backed up"?

Well, yes .. they *are* the backups!
But the originals will be at home and I will be on the road. Of course,
I can plug my 40 GB iRiver MP-3 (FULL of music) into the cassette part
and continue.
True dcandence :)

100 DVD disks then I don't know because you ain't say how many on one
disc. And I ain't gonna waste my time to correct someone who may try to
correct what I say next <bg>
Karaoke (video Karaoke), there are device that can hold 20,000-30,000+ (or
over 40,000 I don't remember the exact number) Video Karaoke. I don't know
exactly what type of format (video format), but the DVD player looks like
regular DVD Player (large size model) and the DVD is regular DVD size.
I don't own it, but heard and saw one. If anyone want more information or
want to correct me then search google for more info. |

There are various External Drive enclosures for USB2, a
couple of those with 300GB drives should handle that much.

Thanks I am aware of that however I would prefer the ability to keep
everything on disk and read or play the dvd via the device. Keeping
everything on a dvd is the main goal.
Do a Google search on "DVD jukebox" and you'll find several links.
I don't think you'll like some of the prices though :-(
http://shop.store.yahoo.com/document-capture-scanners/pidvdcdjupis.html
Not the only one, but if you want reliability it isn't cheap :-(
We looked into DVD and decided that it was so much cheaper and more
convenient to go to hard drive playback, that getting a mechanical DVD
player, subject to loading delays and breakdowns, was simply not worth
the effort. Hard drives are dirt cheap now.

I will add that, IME, USB creates headaches (as predicted by someone in
another froup). My external (HD-) array runs USB2 and it get's burpy
during period of high throughput. I can only imagine that this will be
worse with a DVD-ROM drive. I'll be upgrading to FW800 next time I
crack the case on my HDPC.
Anyway- to my previous request of storage and reading, I'll now add a
dvd-burner (or two) and an additional reader (or two).

The Pioneer DRM-3000 will do that. Holds 300 disks, and acts like
a supersized DVD drive. The price tag on it is the only drawback, but
I am unaware of an equivalently functional DVD multidisk drive at a
lower price. There are some somewhat cheaper models, but nothing
which is remotely cost-competitive with hard drive playback.

No, it uses SCSI. If you can afford the unit, the price of a SCSI
interface would be no concern.
More info from Pioneer:
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/product/detail/0,,2076_17573252_38126_tab=B,00.html?compName=PNA_ProductDetailComponent
As I said, we looked into such things and decided that copying the
DVDs (or VCDs or audio CDs) to hard drive for playback would be much
cheaper. OTOH, we were already looking for hard drive playback
anyway. Adding a DVD jukebox to a hard drive based system easily
doubles the cost or more, and copying DVDs to the hard drive is pretty
fast and easy.

The one I saw looked just like a regular stand alone DVD player (the
larger model not the small size). I believe it can play regular DVD and CD,
and with the special DVD it can hold tens of thousands of video karaoke
files. Also, on single-DVD (special DVD) not charger. |

Search for DVD jukeboxes - cost a fortune.
You can get video only jukeboxes for much cheaper.
