drive upgrade - Houston, Texas |
|
|
The original drive on our S1 (Philips) is dying. Anyone know of a
company in Houston, Texas, that does upgrades? We'd like to have the
old drive copied over to the new drive. If we can find someone local,
we'd rather just pay someone else to deal with it. Barring that we'll
just buy a pre-loaded drive and swap them out.
TIA,

If you don't find someone local to do that, easiest method that comes to
mind is to buy the Weaknees "Deluxe" upgrade (send your DVR to them,
they will copy all programming/settings to the new drive). Painless for
you, reasonable prices, and they have an excellent reputation.

What my husband was dreading was moving over the unwatched shows. Since
I'm the one who handles the wish lists and SPs, I insisted I not have to
re-enter everything. We grabbed a new disk at Fry's, spent Saturday
catching up on anything we really cared to see, then he loaded the new
drive with the settings from the old one. Quick, relatively easy, and
works like a charm. Just in time; the old drive was on it's last legs.
