help: Muxing 2 mepg transport streams into one |
|
|
All,
I have 2 mpeg transport stream files (.m2t files) that have one TV
program each. I need to create a single mpeg2 transport stream file
that has both these videos as streams. I want to do this so that I can
feed this to a set top box I am testing, so that I can test the channel
flip functionality of the set topbox. the set top box can decode MPEG2.
Can any one please help me with some tools that I can run on a windows
box to mux these 2 files into the single file that I want?
Thanks in advance

Try the VideoLAN project group, they have a number of
software tools to work with transport streaming. Google
"m2t mux" and you should have a few links.
Luck;

You could look up the specs for the box. If you don't encode
the bitstream the way it wants, your experiement is unlikely
to be successful. This doesn't really seem like a generic
question. |

Thanks for the reply.
I tried the following:
I took the m2t files and tried to demux them into m2v and mpa/ac3 files
using both TMPGEnc and ElecardXmuxer. I used the trial versions to see
if these will work for me. I then managed to successfully mux the m2v
files (i skipped the audio for now). I managed to do the mux using both
TMPGEnc and Elecard. Both of them give me transport stream files but
when I try to play them through to the Set top box, only one channel
shows up. I even muxed the m2v files into an mpeg file using TMPGEnc
and then converted that into transport stream using VLC but the same
result.
When I open the mpeg file or the transport stream file in VLC though, I
do get to see both the streams.
One interesting observation though:
I am using StreamXpress and a DekTek DTA-100 card to stream ASI output
to my hardware setup. StreamXpress shows that the final muxed m2t file
has only one PMT Program in them. I dont know if that is a problem.
After that I tried the trial version of Manzanita's multi program MPEG
muxer and got a 10 sec video to see if thats what will work for me. The
final muxed transport stream from this one has 2 PMT programs but I
still see only one channel. :(
I am not an MPEG expert. Can someone pls help?

Im not sure if thats a problem. I tried the individual m2t streams
separately and they show up well on the TV through the set top box.
When i mux them, only one shows up, inspite of all that I have tried
until now. |

It sounds like it's an issue related to your "Set top box", which
one is it? If the streams are there, as you say VLC indicates, then
it is up to your set top box capabilities/settings to be able to
display/play them. While what you seem to be trying to is, in theory
possible, I'm doubtful that a non PC player would be prepared to
deal with the results.

Try using the free program "TS Reader Lite" from coolstf.com to see
what's inside the generated transport stream. You'll see the Program
Association Table -PAT- and the Program Map Table -PMT- which are the
"tables of contents" of the transport stream. If these tables are not
OK the decoder might not see all channels in the transport stream.
