Hi I`m quite new to DVD Authoring
and have been using TMPG Dvd Author which is great
I can Pull in a DVD file shrunk in say DVD shrink and add my own menus etc.
Now I feel Id like to try something different but I've tried DVD lab and
Adobe Encore ( Look tricky and cant seem to import Extracted DVD files
like Vobs etc )
So does any no of any other DVD software with which I can create a
professional looking DVD but can also Import Extracted DVD-Video Files as
well as Mpeg etc
But Maybe one that wont take me 3 months to phathom !

Cheers , D .

TMPGenc Dvd Author (TDA) can import titles from the DVD-video
structure (as long as it's not encrypted). Don't snap individual VOBs.

Hmmm.. you lost me here, and I don't even know what you know about TDA
and aother that I don't. So I can only be able to give you a simple list of
what TDA can do.

1. It can import Mpeg_DVD_Ready as well as VOB. VOB is MPEG but be default
the program only look for "MPG" (not even MPEG), and in order to read VOB
or .MPEG or even .DAT then you will have to tell it to look for *.VOB (or
*.* would do)

2. It even be able to import the DVD structure with chapter information.
Yup! you can combine more than one DVD onto single (then use compressor to
make_it_fit DVD-5 if needed)

3. It also have option to EXTRACT (or just Copy and Rename) VOB to MPG. It
has option to extract by chapter or file.

4. It has built-in basic editor that you can use to remove commercial.. and
few other small features.

I probably explained things badly , I think TDA is great, I just fancied a
change - anyway I tried Ulead Movie Fac. 4 and its pretty impressive ,
better than previous Ulead releases and Peagasus have just released TDA
Pro which looks very promising too

So thanks for the tips and advice people !

Cheers

I don't know about the version 4, but have looked at few earlier versions
and they were one joke funnier than other <bg>

TDA has some annoying problm with the MENU, but lucky that most people
don't often mess with the Menu. Example, the Auto-Play is fine which can
skip the Menu, but if you need to use the Menu to select some Sub-Menu (or
Chapter) then it won't continue to the next one like suppose to, or it will
stop when reaches the end of that chapter.

Nonsense, chapters play one after the other no matter how
you do it. You can use tracks (title/vts) to have them play
separately, if that is what you want; but chapters play in order,
from where they are selected.

time digging out your nonesense in public.

And you are not saying anything I said to correct me. Now, read what I
said, and correct yourself instead <g>

--------------------------
You said that "if you need to use the Menu to select some Sub-Menu (or
Chapter) then it won't continue to the next one like suppose to, or it will
stop when reaches the end of that chapter." Which is nonsense.

In TDA, as in all authoring programs, once a chapter reaches its end the
next chapter will play. It will not "stop when reaches the end of that
chapter".
There is no "annoying problm with the MENU".

DVD Lab can create some menu command options that TDA can't, but for
the normal menus that TDA makes, it couldn't be easier or faster. As for
menu appearance, you can replace the background and all the other menu
elements with ones of your own creation/acquisition, so the appearance is
totally up to your imagination.

The creation of motion menus is quick and easy also.

Just because Alpha doesn't like the way the menus function, doesn't mean
there is a problem. Most of us have menus of only one or two pages, not
the 20 or so Alpha has claimed he uses.

Luck;
Ken
