I'm wondering if any notices that broadcast HDTV is superior
to the DVDs they buy of the programs? Watching CSI or
a movie at 1080 then buying the DVD and seeing 480 must be a bit
annoying?
Would it not be better to wait for whatever HD format DVD
is released?

Yeah, and as soon as those formats are released (remember, this ain't gonna
be a smooth transition), we'll be regaled with tales of the next format.
(There's already at least one that's supposed to be better than either in
the current format war.) Gotta wait for that one, then? Of course, maybe you
like living your life on hold...

As for myself, I have not been "annoyed" in the least by the DVDs of
Arrested Development, The Office, I Am Not An Animal, etc etc

not really. the detail is less, but DVD is "good enough".

no - at least not until another 15 year old Norwegain kid breaks the new
encription.

"Had we gone into Baghdad -- we could have done it,
you guys could have done it, you could have been there
in 48 hours -- and then what? Which sergeant, which
private, whose life would be at stake in perhaps a
fruitless hunt in an urban guerilla war to find the
most-secure dictator in the world? Whose life would
be on my hands as the commander-in-chief because I,
unilaterally, went beyond the international law, went
beyond the stated mission, and said we're going to show
our macho? We're going into Baghdad. We're going to be
an occupying power -- America in an Arab land
-- with no allies at our side. It would have been
disastrous."

Sure, the HDTV broadcast is better looking. But the content is most
important.

Got the Matrix Trilogy on HD and DVD is shit compared to it. HD makes
even the worst movie a few stars better :)
