i own DivX 6 Pro on winXP SP2, for the last month i've been unable to
encode any DivX movies, and some of the DivX movies i've encoded ages
ago no longer work, but play back with blury colored crap all over them
(the sound is still audible).

what should i do in this situation... is it likely to be a decode
setting (wouldn't explain the constant encode errors), and/or should i
uninstall the codec completely and re-install?

i'm starting to lose faith in the DivX codec pretty quick as it just
seems so buggy, QT seems much more solid.

I have tried Vp6 codec for HD, it works OK.

or he could just remove Xp and use Linux and mplayer mencoder with DivX.
Free Linux, now Suse 10:

Free mplayer:

Go back to 5.2 is all I can suggest. That's what I did.

Suggest you check and make sure you have Direct 9x downloaded from
Microsoft. I run DIVX 6 Pro on WinXP SP2 and have no problem.
